Given her musical pedigree - daughter of Dame Cleo Laine and
the late Sir John Dankworth - it's no surprise that JACQUI
DANKWORTH is considered to be "one of the classiest acts in
British jazz singing" (The Guardian). Her highly acclaimed
recordings to date have been stylistically diverse, incorporating
elements of folk, blues and many other forms that have
also demonstrated her superb skill as an eclectic songwriter.
Jacqui is also an accomplished actor, having performed leading parts with
the Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Theatre and in many London West
End musicals.

It was her original intention to make acting her main vocation,
but the singing bug had hit by the mid 90's, and Jacqui left the lights
of the London stage to focus on her own recording career.
Jacqui followed the success of “As The Sun Shines Down On Me” with the 2004
release “Detour Ahead”. Again this only added further to her popularity
and another UK tour confirmed Jacqui as “one of the finest singers of her
generation”. Touring around the world and appearing at special concerts
with her parents gave Jacqui a break from recording for a couple of years,
but in 2008 she announced a new management team, recording contract,
and band. The material from the forthcoming album was pre-viewed to
rapturous applause during a three night residency at Ronnie Scott’s
club in Soho, London where Jacqui also announced another UK Tour. Her next
album "Back To You" was released in September 2009 hitting the Top Ten
jazz charts and firmly establishing this singer-songwriter extraordinaire
as one of the UK's most sought-after artists.
With the release of "It Happens Quietly" in August 2011 and further
albums in the pipeline, Jacqui continues to be in demand both for her
concerts and frequent appearances on TV and radio...and she has even
rekindled her acting career!!
